What is HeatWare?

"HeatWare" ( www.heatware.com ) is a private traders' evaluation and reference site used by members of various BBSs (Bulletin Boards' Traders Forums) which allows one to post evaluations of his or her private trades or deals with another. In order to submit or receive an evaluation, you must register for an account on HeatWare.

How do I register for an account?

Registering for a HeatWare account allows you to log into the site, submit evaluations about other users, send mail to other users, and makes your username visible in the user directory. To register for an account, click here. Please ensure that you use a valid e-mail address since an e-mail confirmation will be sent to that address. Do NOT replace "@" with "at" or add the text "NOSPAM" to the address. Also, it is best to use the same username at HeatWare as you do on the message boards.

A user backed out of the deal, can I still write an evaluation?

If one party backs out of the deal even after a verbal agreement has been made, NO evaluation can be given to either party. If no goods or money was exchanged, the "deal" is not eligible for evaluation. If you have received an evaluation for a "deal" that did not take place, please contact us.

I was unfairly given a neutral/negative evaluation!

This is where things can get hairy, when determining if an evaluation was truly "unfair" or not. In many cases, it is one traders word against the other and there is no way for us to know if an evaluation is unfair. Fortunately, we have established a set of guidelines which assist you in settling evaluation disputes. Please read the following very carefully.

The HeatWare staff will NOT act as a mediator between the two parties. Therefore an evaluation can NOT be modified or deleted under any condition except as follows:

  • There is a typographical error in the evaluation.
  • Evaluation was left for the wrong person.
  • Evaluator chooses to retract the evaluation.
  • No money/goods were exchanged.
  • Evaluation was written in retaliation.
  • Duplicate evaluations submitted for the same trade.
If your evaluation falls under one of the categories listed above, you may contact us to have it reviewed, else continue reading.

Because of this policy, users of HeatWare will now be allowed to "Reply" to neutral and negative evaluations. In order to reply to an evaluation, navigate to your HeatWare evaluations page, which can be accessed by clicking on the "My Evals" image. Under the "Actions" column you will now see a "Reply" link for all neutral and negative evaluations. Once clicked, you will see the Description and Comments for the evaluation you are replying to. Below that is a box in which you type your reply. Once submitted, users will be able to read the reply by clicking on the "[OPEN]" link for that evaluation. A notification will be sent to the original evaluator that a reply has been submitted to their evaluation.

NOTE: You must be as objective as possible when leaving a Reply. Replies which contains insults, obscenities, or other irrelevant information will be subject to deletion.

As always, forum moderators, Troll Hunters, and the HeatWare.com staff retains the authority to modify/delete evaluations at any time.

The forum I trade on is not on the list, what do I do?

Since there is such a large number of message boards out there, we only list the more popular ones. If you need to write an evaluation for a trade that was conducted on a forum that is not on the list, please choose the 'Other' option.
